New Towner Art Gallery

Eastbourne has a great new contemporary art gallery. Towner is an exciting museum and the leading centre for visual arts in the South East. The building, designed by award-winning architect Rick Mather, has sparkling white walls and looks something like the white cliffs of Beachy Head nearby.
The gallery has a great collection of 20th century art and there are many pictures by local artists of Eastbourne and the South Downs.
There are exhibitions of work by local school children and also a large gallery for touring exhibitions by international artists. On the top floor the elegant cafe has superb views over the Devonshire Park tennis courts and the hills of the South Downs.
