Students learn to play rugby
11th May 2009
Students from Korea, Germany, Japan and Dubai took part in an afternoon of Tag Rugby at the local Seaside Recreation ground. The session was run by Rebecca Willis, ESoE’s Marketing Executive and devoted rugby player.
Tag Rugby is a popular summer version of the traditional sport played in England. Using tags instead of tackling makes this a great non-contact sport for all ages, genders and abilities. The session started off with a light warm-up, some basic passing and catching drills and then progressed to a full game of Tag Rugby with equipment generously donated by local rugby club Lewes RFC.
The idea of passing a ball backwards while running forwards seemed quite strange to the students at first. However they got used to this and fierce competition quickly followed. Yet another interesting and unique experience for Eastbourne School of English students!
