The weather has
been very strange in the last few weeks, not Christmassy at all. We have
had fine and sunny days, then lots of wind and rain … but no snow yet as
it’s been so mild.
This Christmas
we are taking our students to a traditional pantomime, Cinderella, at the
White Rock Theatre in Hastings.
There will be a
Christmas lunch at the school on the last day of the term, followed by fun
and games in the Student Lounge.
And on 13
December we are organizing an evening party for our host families.
We hope
that wherever you are you will have a great Christmas with your family and
friends.
New Technology
Interactive
whiteboards are the latest educational technology. Using a laptop and a
projector, you can show graphics and text on a big screen. You can also
display internet pages.
Teachers and
students can ‘write’ on the board using an electronic pen.
Our new
interactive board will arrive on 7 December and will be in Room 2. We are
looking forward to this exciting new development and are sure it will make
learning more interesting and stimulating.
We’ve also
bought a new video camera and will be filming students and staff at the
school and round and about in Eastbourne. Some of the video material will
be included on our website so keep an eye this site
Flood in Eastbourne
This summer has
been hot and dry but on 7th August the weather changed suddenly.
At 1.00 pm there was a heavy storm. In thirty minutes we had 25% of the
total average annual rainfall – that’s a lot of water.

At the back of
the school there was a sudden flood and water went quickly into the Learning
Centre. Soon the whole of the Learning Centre was under 25cm of water.
All the
computers were destroyed and the carpets badly damaged. Luckily, we have
good insurance and we were able to replace everything we had lost. We
have now installed new computers. New carpets were laid on 18th
and 19th October. |
