Adventures in Argentina
25th March 2008
Graham Smith, a senior teacher at ESoE, spent four weeks teaching at a former student’s school in Esperanza. Veronica Scherer first came to Eastbourne in 1993 and took her Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) at ESoE. Her experience encouraged her to start her own English language school in Puerto Esperanza, in Argentina’s north-eastern Misiónes province. Veronica returned to Eastbourne 14 years later with a group of Argentinian students. She remembered Graham well and was delighted to see her teacher again, and invited him to spend five weeks in her school. Graham stayed in a hotel, and lots of teenage and adult students signed up for his intensive English course. Graham also ran a successful teacher training course for local teachers of English.
Graham enjoyed sharing a cup of traditional “mate” with his students during lesson breaks. Mate is an Argentinian herb tea.
Here is Graham with his hosts and students, and at the world famous Iguazu falls.
