Student spotlight

Urs Brechbühl (51) comes to us from Zwingen near Basel in Switzerland, where he teaches mathematics and German at a local secondary school. His reasons for coming to England include not only fulfilling his lifelong dream of being able to speak English, but also to broaden his horizons and learn a little more about himself and the world around him. He has taken a sabbatical from work to spend three months in England and another three months in San Francisco.

We asked Urs if this experience is what he expected it to be. He said: "I hoped that this would teach me a lot about the culture of the English language and it has done that well. But I did not expect to learn so much about the cultures of the other students and the friends I have made at the school. That is a positive result for me."

Urs is great example of how unique individuals come together at Eastbourne School of English and the many different reasons that our students have for studying English. We are privileged to be able to share his wonderful blog which he writes  to keep friends and family up to date with his adventures. It includes an amusing account of the day the south of England was plunged into chaos at the sight of snow! Click here to read it
