Former students visit ESoE
1st October 2009
It is always a joy to meet former students but most of all when they take the time and effort to come all the way back to Eastbourne to visit the school. One such student is Kyoko Ishibashi from Japan who was at the school 20 years ago. In her own words: "This trip was very fruitful for me to have re-union with people who I really loved. School and the town have not changed a lot and it was so nice! I hope to come back again another time." She is pictured here on the bench dedicated to Dorothy Rippon who was Principal during Kyoko’s time at the school.
Meanwhile, another student who started the Minamiguchi family’s long friendship with Eastbourne School of English over 30 years ago came back to visit his son Jun who is studying here now. Mr Kenichi Minamiguchi, who was here in 1977, presented the school with a beautifully ornate radio controlled Seiko clock to mark the time the family have spent at the school. Kenichi's brother Nobuji followed the year after and his son Shuichi, Jun’s cousin, spent six months studying at the school last year (see the news article from October 2008). We are proud to be such a big part of the Minamiguchi family history and the clock has pride of place in the student lounge at the school!
Jun is pictured below with the clock presented to Graham White, current Principal of Eastbourne School of English and also with his parents and his friends outside the school.
