Students at BBC Radio show
31st March 2009
At ESoE we are proud that our teachers actively encourage their students to make the best of their experience in England. A trip on Thursday 26 March to a BBC Radio 2 chat show hosted by the famous British comedian Clive Anderson offered an alternative way for some students to experience British culture. Popular ESoE teacher Graham Smith accompanied some higher level students from Switzerland and Korea to the studios of the Royal Academy for Dramatic Art in London.
The guests included MP Nadine Dorries, American comedian Scott Capurro, British journalist Quentin Letts and Australian comedienne Sarah Kendall. They discussed current issues such as the recent disagreements over government ministers’ expenses, the economy and English school curriculums. Each added opinion and humour to the debate and then took questions from the audience. The show was broadcast live on BBC Radio 2 on the following Saturday.
Yujin said: “it was really interesting and different. A little hard to understand sometimes!” Thanks to modern technology, she can listen to the show again (until 4 April 2009) on BBC iPlayer!
