Live and learn – the Work Experience Programme

The Work Experience Programme is for people who want to study and then go on to gain experience working in a British company where they can put the language skills they have learned into practice.

We are able to organise work experience for you while you are in the UK, either on a paid or an unpaid basis. When you have finished your English course – minimum stay 4 weeks – you can start your placement.

Paid placements are in the hotel, catering or leisure industries. Unpaid placements are tailored to your professional needs. If you have specialized training needs you may have to travel to another part of the UK for your placement.

The scheme is run by LAF who have many years of experience in this area and work closely with the School.

You will need to have a good level of English before you start the work placement part of your training.  We will help you to apply to the right companies for your area of work.

We can arrange placement in the following areas:

Using your Engineering SkillsPlacements normally last between 4 and 12 weeks.

You will not receive formal training during the placement but you will learn by working closely with professional people in your area of specialisation.  These placements are not paid.

We are also able to offer paid placements in the hotel and holiday industry all over the U.K.  This is an ideal way to improve your English in a working environment, get to know the U.K. better and earn some money.

At the end of the placement, you will receive a Placement Certificate and can also apply for a Cambridge Certificate of Placement but you must keep a detailed portfolio of work to qualify.

This scheme is not accredited by the British Council.
